... Breaking the habit

... Come Monday Sweet Pea is getting broke of her beloved "Bink"! She is only allowed to have it while napping & at bedtime. Nolan is a little nervous. I, on the other hand am ready for it!
It may be a LONG week!

Any advice?

I loved what Becca did! I think she told Cambria that she was going to trade it in at the store for a toy and when they got to the store she just kind of winked at the lady to let her know that Cambria was going to pay for the new toy with her bink. It went something like that...you should ask her, or I think its on her archives on her blog, anyways...it was super cute idea!!!

No matter how hard I tried, neither one of my kiddos NEVER took to the bink. On Super Nanny she has the kiddo gather all the binks and they give to the "pacifairy" (a fairy doll holding a small fish net) and then the "pacifairy" bring a special present for the kiddo to unwrap. It makes them feel special. With my kiddos bottles I just had them watch me throw them in the trash and told them they were yucky. I like Super Nannies idea better. Becca's was good too. I think she said she had a rough first night, but after that it was ok.

Good luck with that! The two previous posts sound like good ideas. I didn't have binkie babies so I am not sure what to advise but I think you may discover the wrath a Sweat Pea. She may be known in the future as Sour Grapes!

Dominio was my only binky baby and he was super easy! He would always hide his binky's from me so one day when I couldn't find any I told him we were done...... and he did fine. I like Jessica and Brandi's ideas and I have a few others friends have tried. I'm not sure if you have a build-a-bear or something like it, but one friend took her daughter there. They placed all the binks in with the hearts and closed it up! Now she has the new bear and knows her binks are safe inside. I have also heard of cutting of the end of the silicone part, making sure there are no rough edges. Then when they suck on it, it isn't the same and they don't want the thing anymore! I hope whatever you choose to do will work and I hope it will be as smooth as it can be! GOOD LUCK!

Oh Megan, I feel for you! Jess was right, I had Bria "pay" for a new toy with hers. it worked great for us. She understood and never really asked for it after the first or second night. It was (and still sometimes is) much harder and more of a process to get her to sleep at night though. No more "plugging her in" and saying good night til morning :) But, it was not nearly as hard as I thought it would be. I think it was harder for me. I just had to make sure I was ready, and she was fine. Good luck!

Nolan is welcome to sleep in the room recently vacated by Kaitlin. That might ease his anxiety some!

Oh goodness, I hope things go well for you. Monkey Boy was never a binky baby, but Miss Thumper is a THUMB baby. I'm trying to figure out how you break her of that habit. Eesh. Good luck though! :D

Good luck! No advice here. Cameron wouldn't take a binky. For awhile he just wanted to suck his thumb! Thank goodness he has some what lost interest in that!
